Six Sumptuous Smoothies
Our favorite sugar products belong to Dixie Crystals…brown sugar, powder sugar, and granulated sugar. Well, when the good folks at Dixie Crystals challenged it’s users to a smoothie contest…we figured, why not? We like smoothies. So we decided to come up with weird and wonderful smoothies creations…one for each day of a week.
Hold the phone one cotton-picking minute! A week has 7 days. The title of this blog is “Six Sumptuous Smoothies”. What gives???
Well….one of our “weird and wonderful” smoothies was only weird…it forgot to be wonderful so we aren’t sharing it because we couldn’t even drink it!
At any rate…Starting today and for the next 6 days, we are going to close out the summer by sharing with you all of our weird and INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL and good-tasting smoothie creations. Many of our recipes feature Dixie Crystals sugar products; some don’t because the smoothie was incredibly wonderful without any added sweetness.
The only challenge for us now is….which smoothie do we share first???

CHOCOLATE AVOCADO SMOOTHIE
If you have an avocado that is just too ripe to eat, why not enjoy all of it’s healthful benefits and use it to make a smoothie?
Light and filling, this smoothie makes an EXCELLENT dessert when you’re craving a little something in the evening, but you don’t want to go to bed super full. If you’re having it for breakfast, this smoothie will keep you going for hours in the morning. The avocado adds a terrific smooth texture…and we felt “healthier” because of it!
Chocolate Avocado Smoothie
- 1 ripe avocado
- ½ cup cocoa
- 1/3 cup Dixie Crystals extra fine granulated sugar
- Pinch of salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 cup half and half
- 1 cup ice
In a blender combine all the ingredients. Blend until smooth. Pour into serving glasses. Top with cinnamon and whipped cream for a decadent and filling treat.
